There are a number of emotional and physical challenges that young adults affected by cancer may face. Our grants are designed to give young adults an opportunity to focus on and strengthen their physical and mental wellbeing.
GRANT ELIGIBILITY
The grants of up to $500 are given to young people aged between 18 and 30 who live in Victoria and are receiving or have recently completed cancer treatment.
TYPES OF ACTIVITIES OR PROGRAMS THAT WE FUND
Individuals can nominate how they would like to use their grant to best meet their wellness needs. The Foundation is also on hand to provide ideas and inspiration to help recipients find the right activity that helps strengthen their emotional, spiritual or mental wellbeing.
Past recipients have used their grants to access:
- yoga classes
- gym memberships
- meditation courses
- wellness and weekend retreats
- books and e-readers (i.e. Kindles)
- dance classes
- tickets to sporting and cultural events, and
- cooking classes.
As our aim is to support as many young people as possible, we are usually only able to provide one grant to each applicant and fund up to a maximum of $500 for any chosen activity or program. The grant recipient will need to pay any additional costs over this limit.
REFERRAL PROCESS
We accept referrals from most allied health and medical professionals. Wellness programs can be an important part of a patient’s care plan.
If you would like to refer a patient or client to us fill in the ONLINE REFERRAL FORM. Alternatively download the Wellness Grants Referral Form and return the completed form to us via email (to info @ cgfoundation.org.au) or fax (03) 8414 2829. Our aim is to make the referral process as simple as possible, so please contact us if you need help with completing the form.
Once we receive the referral, we will contact the young person to discuss how they would like to use their grant. We will advise young people of the outcome of their application within four weeks of receiving the referral.
